WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden agreed Tuesday to address a joint session of Congress this month to mark 100 days in office as he grapples with critical issues including the coronavirus pandemic and America s economic woes.
Biden accepted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi s invitation to deliver an April 28 address on the challenges and opportunities of this historic moment.
The speech will not technically be a so-called State of the Union address, which American presidents give yearly under the Constitution. Brand new leaders like Biden instead deliver a speech to a joint session of Congress.
Congress general secretary and chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the Modi government has been completely careless and cruel when it comes to ensuring life-saving drugs, providing oxygen and vaccines to Indians, and has proved incompetent in controlling the spread of the virus.

President Joe Biden’s pro-migration policy is so unpopular that it is flipping multiple congressional swing districts towards GOP candidates, according to two polls funded by the Heritage Foundation.
For example, 55 percent of swing-voting independents blame Biden for the migrant wave, 48 percent said it would make them less likely to vote for a Democrat, and 67 percent oppose the removal of the border wall, according to the two polls, each of 1,200 people. That is good news for GOP candidates because GOP voters overwhelmingly blame Biden and support the border wall.
The two polls of 1,200 likely voters were conducted by OnMessage Inc., which works for many establishment GOP groups and candidates. One poll tracked voters’ answers in 15 key congressional districts. The other poll tracked voters’ answers in 19 swing suburban counties.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed the January 6 Capitol rioters would have “had a battle on their hands” if they messed with her, adding that she is “a street fighter.”
“That’s what they were setting out to do,” Pelosi told
USA Today, adding the rioters had intended to access herself and other targets such as former Vice President Mike Pence.
She added that if they had reached her, she would not have been someone to mess around with.
“Well, I’m pretty tough. I’m a street fighter. They would have had a battle on their hands,” she continued.
